| AMERICAN LATE FEDERAL CANOPY BED C. 1815-1830 |
| Beautifully carved mahogany tester bed, c. 1815-1830, from the estate of Percy V. Hill, a prominent Augusta, Maine businessman during the early 1900's. Restored 75 years ago when it was given to another Augusta family and refinished at that time. The rails have angle irons to hold a box spring.(Removed for the picture) Front posts are beautifully carved with rope turnings and acanthus leaves. Back posts are plain as was frequently the custom on these four poster beds. Condition: very good Size: Outside measurement: 57"W. x 80"L Inside measurement: 51.5"W. x x 72.5"L.
