| PAIR OF EARLY CARVED FOLK ART FLAGS |
An unusual pair of wooden folk art flags found in Maine. Folds of the flags were carved for definition and then painted. The pair compliment one another; they're mirrored, notice the bottom of the flags and the folds. Very hard to photograph how fabulous they are. I wish I knew more about the history of the flags, however, they spent part of their life on a barn in Essex. Massachusetts. I believe they originated in a G.A.R. Post (Grand Army of the Republic organization) somewhere on the North Shore of Massachusetts. These posts thrived in the second half of the 1800's.
Condition: Worn paint, red is missing but can barely be seen on the sides.
Size: 100"H (8'4") x 6.5"W
