Stunning simplicity says it all; the lines and color make these chairs adaptable for either a period room or a contemporary setting.Tired of the Louis XVI Style, the Germans created the Biedermeier Period 1815-1848. It is considered the beginning of the modern movement. These sophisticated chairs are made of medium toned birch. Condition: the veneer has been restored on the crest rails and shows splits in the rails around the seats. The upholstery on the seats is in good condition. The chairs are tight and sturdy. Beautiflly carved 18th C. Rococo looking glass, not over done with an abundance of carving. Half column on each side. Gold gilt wood.

Condition: Restored with the center top reinforced on the back. Looks like the gilt was redone at some point. A few breaks in the carving.
